DR. CASSANDRA B. SELTMAN, PSYCHOANALYST

MY PRACTICE

I treat symptoms as an integral part of the individual's experience, as they can be thought and spoken about in order to change one's painful relationship to them. The space I provide is confidential, non-judgmental, and highly creative.

PSYCHOANALYSIS AND PSYCHOTHERAPY

I consider psychotherapy to be a project between two people in which the goal is to understand both conscious and unconscious sources of emotional pain and ultimately open a space in which to alleviate suffering. The result is a very singular relationship that encourages multiple readings of itself and of all the relationships that have come before it. Through an understanding of feelings, relationships, and a deepening of inner and outer dialogue, we can enter a process of healing which leads to the shedding of old and destructive patterns.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

You may be experiencing shame, guilt, anxiety, and lack of meaning and direction in your life. Psychotherapy and psychoanalysis work deeply with these concerns.

COUPLES THERAPY

Being a couple is no easy thing. Often we can get stuck in painful dynamics that feel impossible to break. A consultation will help assess whether I can help you and your partner with barriers getting in the way of intimacy and strong communication.

INSURANCE AND FEE

How do I use my out-of-network benefits?

Client 1

You likely have out-of-network insurance benefits which you can use. When people use out-of-network benefits with me the fee usually drops from $175-$250 to somewhere between $35-$80 per session. You can find out exactly how much it will cost by:

  1. Contacting your insurance company using the number on the back of your insurance card. If there is a number for Behavioral Health or Mental Health, call that number. Otherwise, call the number for member services. At the prompt, select Benefits and Eligibility.

  2. Tell the operator “I am calling to check on my out-of-network benefits for routine psychotherapy provided in an outpatient, office setting.”

  3. They should let you know your deductible and your co-insurance (it will be something like 60/40, 70/30, or 80/20).

  4. If you contact me with your coinsurance and deductible I will be able to let you know how much sessions will cost.
